Soaps can be made in several ways and one of them is the cold process method. In this, soap is made by a gradual saponification process that doesn’t involve direct heating. It can take up to 4-6 weeks before the soap is ready for use depending on the raw ingredients and their ratios. This is the only kind of soap that has an inherent moisturizing effect along with the cleaning action as all of its natural glycerin is left intact.

Many other so called “soaps” often carry synthetic detergents which are technically not soap but have a cleaning action that removes not only dirt but also strips the body of its natural oils. New users of cold process soaps may therefore take some time to get accustomed to these truly natural products that are simply amazing for the skin. Awareness is key in making the shift.

It is not entirely true that a bath product without SLS won’t foam. Bubbles are formed by surfactants (foaming agents) and soap itself is a natural surfactant, hence it would bubble but without the use of a synthetic substitute meant to push the experience. The controversial SLS produces a much richer lather and the widespread use of products containing it has cued many of us to mistakenly judge a bath product’s effectiveness and experience by this property.

Yes, you may. It shall depend on your skin type and your personal usage experience. A soap is primarily a cleaning product and not meant to provide the level of moisturization as a moisturizer.

It's very rare but possible. Natural does not equal to safe for all, even if it is for most. Plant based ingredients carry allergens in their natural state and may not be suitable for individuals with specific sensitivities. We list all the ingredients in our products for your awareness and if you face any discomfort in usage, please discontinue use and seek medical advice if irritation persists.

Yes. We vouch for quality with a conscience hence we don’t use parabens as this class of preservatives has been questioned for their safety and impact on the environment. We choose to go with safe alternatives that are just as effective.

A body scrub exfoliates and cleanses the skin at the same time. In comparison, a body polish exfoliates and moisturizes the skin but is not designed to clean. A body polish should be used after cleansing with soap whereas with a body scrub, using the soap is an optional step.

Exfoliators remove the oldest layer of dead cells on the skin's outermost surface which if left unattended can lead to clogged pores and a dull look. So exfoliation is like good therapy for the skin that smoothens and rejuvenates it, revealing a healthy new look. It is important to ensure that the exfoliator being used is effective and yet gentle on the skin to avoid damages like micro tearing etc.

Free radicals are highly unstable and reactive molecules present in the environment around you, especially if you are a city dweller. They damage living cells and cause accelerated aging in case of skin. They cling to your collagen (skin's structural protein) and weaken its elasticity. So what's the saviour: Antioxidants

Antioxidants are naturally occurring vitamins and minerals that protect your skin against damage caused by free radicals. Examples being Vit E, Vit C and Vit A to name a few. They neutralise the reactive free radical molecules and depending on their source, may also heal, soothe or moisturize the skin.

Since our products are made from natural ingredients, this is a direct result of that. Naturally sourced ingredients come in a vast variety of colours, shapes and sizes (like fruits, flowers and vegetables) depending on when and where were they sourced/harvested. We find these appearance variations a unique and beautiful characteristic of natural products. The desired efficacy and potency of the ingredients and final products is always tested and assured.

Unopened products, not exposed to high temperatures have a shelf life of approximately 12-18 months from manufacturing with exacts mentioned on the label. We recommend storing the products in a cool, dry setting away from sunlight to better preserve their quality. Since the formulations are natural and use gentle preservatives, they are best used fresh, once opened. We advise you to not leave products lying unused for long after opening. In rare cases, slight fading in scent and color may occur before expiration which is normal and does not effect the quality and efficacy of the product. However, if it develops an unpleasant smell, looks odd, or is off in any other way, it should not be used and discarded.

Yes, with the knowledge that not all preservatives are bad if used in regulated and prescribed concentrations. We try to innovate our formulations such that the need of preservatives is reduced and the products are all natural as much as possible. However in certain cases, we must use preservatives to offer you quality products that are safe and effective to use over a desired period of time even if not too long. Unpreserved or under-preserved products specially that contain water can pose a health risk. In these cases, truly preservative-free products will not survive the real conditions of usage and are highly likely to get spoilt with mould and bacteria, specially in a warm weather country like India. At Krbn, we prioritise our users' health and experience and not give in to popularised stigma blindly. We are always looking to upgrade to better solutions as research advances on this front.

Botanical ingredients are mostly safe, but we recommend that pregnant women consult their doctors before using our products as many of them contain pure essential oils.
